Bonefish, permit, tarpon, and snook are generally the principal target of the clients that visit us. Despite this, during one fishing day, there is a high chance to find other species from the bay that represent a challenge and still are fun to fish. Among them, there are the jack crevalle, barracuda, and cobias.

Barracuda, Jack Crevalle and Cobia

The barracuda from the Chetumal bay has a really good size and they can be fished by sight because they are generally seen when you are fishing bonefish at the flats. These barracudas can weigh up to 25 lb. The baby tarpon fishing gear would be enough for their fishing, just don’t forget to bring your wire shock tippet.

The jack crevalle abounds in the bay and they can size between 2 to 20 lb. Big bird flocks at the sky are the sign that the jacks are eating towards the surface, so it is possible to try their fishing.

The ponds where big tarpon is fished are also inhabited by cobia through their waters. This fishing requires that the fish is sighted near the surface to be able to watch them and cast to them. The cobias size goes through 10 to 30 lb.
