Better chances for permit fishing comes throughout the months of May to August when you will be able to find small schools in flats. We mainly encounter permits from 6 to 12 lbs average, yet, anything is written and on one lucky day you can fish bigger ones.

Fly fishing:

Rods: 9’ four pieces fast action rods from 8 wt to 10 wt.

Lines: WF floating lines, reel with 200 yards of 20 lb. Backing.

Leader: 9’ to 12’ long leader, 12 to 16 lb test.

Flies: Rag head, velcro crab, mantis shrimp, veverka, and merkin.

Colors: Tan, light brown, light pink, white, and olive.

Spinning:

Rods: Light spinning rods of 6’ 6" to 8’ length, medium action.
